The Piano Paradox and the Dresser Dilemma

The Piano Paradox and the Dresser Dilemma

As I mentioned earlier in the week, our house is now on the market. This was at least partially intentional, although we had planned to wait a couple more weeks. But you know what it’s like when someone comes into your house and starts talking you into something… While we’re waiting desperately for someone to want to … Continue reading »

Small Notes

  • Before I forget, I'm over at S J Clarke's blog today, talking about why I chose to set my stories in Wales. Stop on by?
  • Today I'm visiting Talina at Bookin' It Reviews to chat about how I get to know my characters... or not. Come on by and mock my inability to fill in character sheets!
  • If my new section on the Avalon Inn has you wanting to know more, I'm over at the Lyrical Press blog today, with a behind the scenes excerpt from Room for Love, showing you just what's going on when Carrie and Nate are busy elsewhere... Stop on by and say hi!
  • I’m over at the Romance Novel Sluts blog today, talking about the romance novels that led me to start writing my own – and posting an excerpt from Room for Love. Why not stop on by and maybe be inspired to read some romances of your own?
  • I'm over at Cassandra Carr's blog today, talking about the joys of attraction - and posting an excerpt of Carrie and Nate's first meeting in Room for Love. Stop on by and let me know what you think? I'd love to see you there. Attraction...
  • I just turned in the final round of galley edits for An A to Z of Love, which means the next time I see the book it'll be in official, finished, final e-book form, ready for a last check (mostly to make sure I haven't lost a chapter or something) before publication day. With just over a month until my first book, Room for Love, is released, it's all getting very real and close, now. Suppose at some point I'd better get to work on the third book in the Love from Wales series - Summer of Love. Although since there's snow across the country this morning, it's a little hard to find the inspiration...
  • Just checking in with a quick update - I finished the first draft of my new book this week, on time, and I still love it (which is rare at this point). It needs a good, thorough revision, of course, but the bones are down and I know I can work with them. Still a lot more deadlines - self-imposed and otherwise - to hit over the next few weeks. There are synopses to write, galleys to check, stories to submit, pitches to write... All very exciting stuff. And right now, in the euphoria of the finished book, everything seems possible! Check in next week to see me panic that it's all impossible, it can't be done, and I was crazy to ever think it could.
  • Apparently the universe just can't wait until May 21st to read my first book, Room for Love. Release date has been brought forward to May 7th... and now you can read a new excerpt too!
  • We've had our first snow of the year over the weekend - enough to go sledging and build a snowman. With accompanying snow dog and snow cat. For once, the weather actually suits the book I'm writing - it's partially set during a snowstorm. Usually I find that I'm writing winter in summer, and vice versa. Anyway, I'm making the most of the timely weather, and holing up in the warm house with plenty of tea, trying to get a decent chunk of words written on this first draft. See you after the thaw!
  • Despite the packing panic, the week's not going to badly. Content edits for Room for Love are back with my editor, the first draft of Summer of Love is within about 5,000 words of being done, I had a wonderful surprise through the door in the form of a signed copy of the brilliant In Bed with a Stranger from the delightful India Grey, and I've made another chocolate fruit cake. What more does the world want from me?
  • Just turned in the edits for Room for Love, and in return got confirmation of the release date for the companion book, An A to Z of Love! Looking like early July 2012 for that one, with Room for Love still scheduled for May. So exciting!
  • As you'll have noticed if you stop by here often, I've been doing some redecorating around the site. I'm still tweaking the design to suit, but hopefully the new set up gives you more to look at, without having to trawl through too many pages to find it! Let me know what you think...

Sophie Pembroke

Welcome!

I'm Sophie, and I write very British romances about friends, family and falling in love. And tea. Obviously.

My first novel, Room for Love, was released by Lyrical Press in May, and the companion novel, An A to Z of Love will follow in July. To find out more about them, please visit my Love From Wales series page.

Lovely to have you here!
