A Late Start

Untitled, by Nicki VarkevisserJanuary is never really the best month for fresh starts and new beginnings. It’s too cold, for a start, and the Christmas/New Year hangover always lingers. Too much food, drink, expense. January just makes me want to hibernate.

I didn’t have a lot of choice this year, actually. First the daughter, and then I, got hit with a rather nasty virus that laid us up for a while. I feel like I lost two weeks of my life!

But now I’m finally ready to start 2013 properly. I’ve been working again, this last week, on some potentially very exciting projects. Right now, with the snow still falling outside, I’m working on revisions of a category romance set in a snowbound cottage in mid-Wales, which feels very appropriate. My schedule for the next month or so is rather packed, trying to make up for lost time, but it’s all so much fun I really don’t mind!

And today, to celebrate finally feeling better again, I plan to stay warm, watch the daughter and the husband make a snowman in the back garden, and make them butternut squash and spinach lasagne for their tea. Possibly followed by chocolate cake. Maybe this one.

See? January’s looking better already.
